Hi everyone,
You are welcome to join the Global Health Initiative’s workshop on medical
equipment donations abroad taking place on Tuesday November 24.
Medical equipment donations abroad allow many health facilities to gain access to essential medical equipment. However, are these donations effective and do they have their intended impact? Challenges regarding infrastructure and resources, user training, and adherence to donation guidelines can all contribute to ineffective and potentially harmful donations. What are the protocols and barriers in place for medical equipment donations? What are the relevant social, cultural, and political factors that must be taken into consideration? Come participate in an informative and interactive discussion about medical equipment donations abroad.
Location: MSAC Hardwick Hall; Video/teleconferencing are also available.
Date: Tuesday, November 24th, 2015
Time: 7pm (food will be served at 6:30pm)
The speakers at the event will be members from the UBC Biomedical Engineering Student Team, which is a multidisciplinary team that aims to develop solutions and devices that make a difference in the medical field. It is composed of seventy Engineering, Science, Business and Arts students, and is currently pursuing six different projects.
