Description:

All students, residents, physicians and faculty are welcome to join us for the next UBC Global Health JournalClub. We will be discussing disaster relief medicine. Our discussion will begin with a review of the journal articles below, followed by presentations of two guest speakers, Dr. Shani Tan and Mariko Miller, discussing their personal experiences for working in disaster relief situations. Please join us for a very interesting discussion!

 

Guest speakers:

Dr. Shani Tan, who works in Trail, BC, will be discussing first-hand perspectives and challenges seen while working in Aceh, Indonesia, during the 2004 tsunami.

Mariko Miller is a nurse who works in Vancouver, BC, and has taken part in several missions with MSF. Mariko will be discussing challenges faced during the Nepal earthquake response.
