Hi everyone!
The first UBC Global Health Initiative (GHI) Workshop of the year will be taking place on Tuesday, September 29th, 2015 at 7:15 pm Pacific Time in MSAC VC Room. The topic is Refugee Health. Everyone with interest is welcome to join. Here is also a friendly reminder that these workshops are MANDATORY for GHI members.
Refugee health has been a widespread issue both locally and globally. We are lucky to host the speaker, Dr. Maureen Mayhew, who will provide both a local and global perspective on refugee health.
Dr. Maureen Mayhew, a Clinical Associate Professor at UBC and Johns Hopkins School of Population and Public Health. Dr. Mayhew has worked in Afghanistan and Africa, and is the editor/author of the Canadian Paediatric Society: Caring for Kids New to Canada http://www.kidsnewtocanada.ca/ (a tool for health professionals working with immigrant and refugee children and youth).
