Global Health Initiative Workshop: Knowledge Translation and Sustainability

The next GHI workshop will focus on knowledge translation and sustainability. It will be on Wednesday March 7th. As always, food will be served at 6:30 PM with the workshop starting at 6:45. Everyone is welcome to attend!

Dr. Charles Larson will share his experiences working in developing countries. He will outline how to successfully implement interventions and long term solutions in communities through engagement of locals and NGOs in a sustainable manner.

Dr. Larson is a medical graduate of McGill University and later specialized in Pediatrics and Preventive Medicine & Public Health.  Since 2008, he has been a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of British Columbia and Director of the Centre for International Child Health (CICH).  Prior to joining UBC he lived in Dhaka, Bangladesh for 6 years where he directed the Health Systems and Infectious Diseases Division at the International Centre for Diarrheal Diseases Research in Bangladesh.  Dr. Larson worked in Ethiopia for 6 years where he headed the McGill-Ethiopia Project in Community Health.  He also led a five-year population child health project in Chelyabinsk, Russia.  Dr. Larson’s research interests currently focus on implementation studies, including the scale up of child survival interventions that address the treatment of childhood diarrhea and the interruption of pathways to sepsis in mothers and young children.   The CICH currently carries out capacity building and research projects in Bangladesh, China, Uganda Botswana and Senegal.
