The Global Health Initiative’s first workshop of the year will take place on Wednesday, October 8th, 2014.
The topic of our first workshop is Refugee Health and our speaker will be Dr. Maureen Mayhew, a Clinical Associate Professor at UBC and Johns Hopkins School of Population and Public Health.
Dr. Mayhew has 25 years of experience practicing medicine in a variety of settings including rural and remote, cross cultural, inner city, refugee health, public health and international public health. She has worked in Afghanistan and Africa, and is the editor/author of the Canadian Paediatric Society: Caring for Kids New to Canada http://www.kidsnewtocanada.ca/ (a tool for health professionals working with immigrant and refugee children and youth). Through a series of cases, Dr. Mayhew will be discussing Refugee Health in Canada.
