Global Health Initiative Workshop: Nutrition, November 9, 2011

There will be a GHI workshop addressing international nutrition on WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 9. Food will be served at 6:30 PM with the workshop starting at 6:45 PM.

Dr. Alice Temu will speak about approaches to improving a community’s nutritional status and common mistakes international workers make when implementing nutritional programs. Dr. Temu, originally from Tanzania, has experience working with UNICEF and other national organizations in many African countries. She is currently teaching an International Nutrition class at UBC (FNH 355).

Roberta Wozniak will share her experiences working in international nutrition. She is a graduate of the UBC Land and Food Systems faculty. In the summer of 2010 she was a member of a team that went to Rwanda to determine the prevalence and causes of malnutrition in 40 rural villages in Ngoma District, several hours from the capital city of Kigali.
