There will be a brief introduction to the medical aspects of HIV/AIDS but the workshop will be concentrated on working with populations/communities with high prevalence of HIV/AIDS in terms of education/prevention, approaches to management and other related issues. Dr. Bedell and the team leaders for GIVE project will use the example of the GIVE project in Kenya to discuss the challenges of providing HIV prevention, care and treatment in a resource-limited setting. We will look at some of the organizational, technical and cultural issues at play and what responses may be possible in the face of such challenges. The session will take the form of a consultation discussion with the project as the case study.
