Climate Health Workshop Series

Hello all!

This January and February, UBC Medicine Global Health is hosting a three-part Climate Heath series of workshops. We hope you’ll join us for these interactive sessions with some fascinating speakers!

Please RSVP for the workshops here.

Workshop 1: PaRX: Prescribing Nature
January 25th, 8-9 PM
Join us for an interactive workshop on the health benefits of nature, led by Dr. Melissa Lem, a family physician and PaRx Director. You’ll learn how to use the practical tools in Canada’s first national nature prescription program, PaRx, to improve the health of your patients and the planet.

Workshop 2: Providing Medical Assistance After a Disaster
February 2, 6:30 PM – 8PM
Dr. Karen Joughin is a retired plastic surgeon. In January 2005, while living and working in Australia, she was part of the Queensland Health team sent to help people in Banda Aceh, Indonesia three weeks after the Indian Ocean tsunami. She is not an expert in disaster health care, but she is happy to share lessons that she learned through her experiences in Banda Aceh.

Workshop 3: “FLEX” Your Ideas in Climate Health
Date TBD (Late February)
In the final workshop of the series, we will be hosting a “World Cafe” style discussion-based event. You’ll first hear from students about their FLEX projects and other climate health initiatives. Then, you’ll have a chance to discuss your ideas while rotating through small groups!

If you have any questions, please contact cbhatla@student.ubc.ca or keikop@student.ubc.ca

We hope to see you there!
