Water and Sanitation Workshop Description:

Mr. Melanson will review the role of water and sanitation practices in the prevention of the spread of disease in the developing world and in post disaster situations, focusing on the practical methods of breaking the disease cycle.  He will also share his experiences in the field.

Speaker Bio – Mr. Joel Melanson:

Joel Melanson currently works as a Civil Engineer with Metro Vancouver and has worked with Doctors Without Borders on and off since 2005 as a water and sanitation specialist in various disaster relief efforts, most recently in Haiti after the earthquake in January 2010.  Joel is originally from Prince Edward Island now lives in Vancouver with his wife Tanya.
