An Architect’s Thoughts on Global Health Projects in India and Uganda
Marc Trudeau, Architect, MAIBC, writes about his experiences with two UBC Global Health Initiative projects. One of the great opportunities of global health is the learning exchange that happens between everyone involved. As an architect who has participated in the UBC Global Health Initiative generally and in its associated Uganda and India projects, I have observed how ideas and experiences get shared with participants
as quickly as curry from a frying pan gets to every nose in the kitchen.
Global Maternal Health Panel – October 21st
Amnesty International is pleased to be working with a number of agencies and UBC departments (School of Population and Public Health and others) to present a free public forum on maternal health. The forum will feature UBC faculty member—Dr Farah Shroff; SheWay staff member Geo Hayes and a midwife; others involved include community researchers, practitioners, and activists with expertise and experience with improving maternal health in Canada and around the world.

UBC Global Health Initiative is a student-run initiative that seeks to enhance global education and provide hands-on skills training to UBC students via a series of monthly skill-building workshops. GHI also offers students the opportunity to participate in global health projects in Uganda, Honduras, India, Kenya, and even right in Canada. Many students involved in GHI projects are carrying out research projects and publishing their findings.
